Why Greco-Roman?

Greco-Roman wrestling is one of the oldest Olympic sports, yet it remains one of the most underfunded in America. Greco United exists to change that — developing a culture of excellence and giving athletes the resources they need to compete at the highest level.

ABOUT GRECO UNITED

Greco United was built by athletes who lived the struggle — the long drives to tournaments, the fundraisers to cover camp fees, the feeling of watching international competitors arrive fully funded while American wrestlers scraped together every dollar. Nick Africano and Logan Savvy founded Greco United with one purpose: make sure no American Greco wrestler ever has to choose between competing and affording it.

Nick Africano's appreciation and love for Greco-Roman wrestling took root in high school, but it truly blossomed when he had the rare opportunity to travel to Denmark and train alongside the Danish National Team. That transformative experience — combined with training with the elite All-Air Force wrestling team under coaches Rich Estrella and Floyd "Bad News" Winter — forged a deep and lasting passion for the sport that has defined his life ever since.

Nick carried that fire into his college career at Olivet College, where he became a two-time conference placer and earned the respect of his teammates as team captain. He went on to compete as an adult athlete, earning a 2nd place finish in the US Open Masters Division in Greco-Roman and 4th place in Masters Freestyle.

A USA Wrestling Bronze Level certified coach, Nick co-founded Greco United because he believes Greco-Roman wrestling builds more than champions — it builds character, discipline, and brotherhood. His mission is simple: grow the sport he loves and make sure every American Greco athlete has a real shot at the world stage.

Logan Savvy is a well-decorated Greco-Roman wrestler whose resume speaks to years of relentless dedication to the sport. A two-time Bill Farrell International Bronze Medalist, two-time US Open All-American, and World Team Trials Qualifier, Logan has consistently competed at the highest levels of American Greco and backed it up with results.

His pursuit of excellence on the mat has never been about accolades alone — it has always been about pushing the ceiling of what American Greco wrestlers can achieve. That same drive extends to coaching. As a Florida National Team Coach, Logan pours his knowledge and competitive fire into developing athletes who share his hunger for the sport.

As co-founder of Greco United, Logan brings both credibility and vision to the organization. He believes Greco-Roman wrestling is one of the most transformative disciplines in all of sport — and that America has only scratched the surface of its potential on the world stage. Building that future, one athlete and one community at a time, is what Greco United is all about.
